Walter was able to come up with some creative and workable plans.
Walter Price recently finished a remodel of my attic in my Thornton Park 1923 Bungalow turning it into a +460 sqft multipurpose guest room.
There were some real challenges in coming up with a design to meet City Codes, Historic District specifications, and my own requirements. Walter was able to come up with some very creative and workable plans that met everyone's needs.
As far as Walter's workmanship and quality, I would rate it as excellent. There were numerous times when Walter was able to advise me on the different types of materials, and which would be most suitable to fit the historic nature of my home, the chosen style (Craftsman) and overall durability and quality. sometimes when I was willing to except a lesser quality, he would persuade me with the risk's versus benefits of certain materials. Other times we were able to go with cheaper materials when quality didn't matter as much. I appreciated his openness and candor when it came to selecting suitable materials.
Walter's head carpenter was very skilled and the centerpiece of our renovation was a custom spiral staircase and balcony railing that is one-of-a-kind and is amazing. We have had many positive comments regarding the craftsmanship and design of the staircase and woodwork. the carpenter was also able to suggest additional design elements that tied together other built-in features, such as our two bookcases, two window seats, window frames and a custom doorbell cover to match the rest of the woodwork. He took great care in the final appearance. they took my original design ideas , were able to translate them to a workable solution, proposed various improvements and designs and worked well with me to see it through to the finished product.
Walter and his team were friendly to work with and took the time to get to know me and understand my vision for the final product. They accommodated my suggestions and last-minute additions to the plan and made their own recommendations as the project proceeded.
Even though the project focused on the upstairs, staircase and a repainting and reroofing effort, Walter took the time to make sure his designs were incorporated into the existing house, lot and neighborhood looking at the project from a holistic point of view. Suggestions were made on interior design, landscaping, color selection, etc which I really appreciated. We are very happy with the final product!
Satisfied The Inspectors In Short Order . . . So I Could Close On My New House
Walter Price Design Build helped me out when I was getting ready to move into my new house. There were a couple items that the inspectors didn't like that I had to have fixed in short order so I could close. Walter found the time to get here and helped me get everything squared away, from stair demo to door installations. He is a consummate professional and his work is of the highest quality. I know I can count on him any time I need a contractor.
Walter Price Took The Time To Explain The Entire Process To A "Novice Homeowner"
I had issues in my bathroom where the tile was coming up. I called Walter Price to come out and take a look at my bathroom. He came out and was very professional, punctual, and very knowledgeable on the bathroom issues. He was able to do a great assessment of the issues, and brought the ideas that turned my problem into a great remodel. He walked a novice homeowner through the entire process. I would recommend Walter Price to anyone.
After WP Design Build, It Was Like We Had A New Home
From the moment he walked into our home, Walter knew we were overdue for additional eating and living space. Through his eyes, we visualized combining our screen porch, existing eat-in kitchen and small family area to create a new kitchen, breakfast-gathering area. It’s as if we have a new home. His firm did the plans and built the space. Years later we still receive compliments on the renovation.

No Problems Working Within City Historic Guidelines
As our home was built in the Historic Lake Cherokee District, Walter had no problems working within the city historic guidelines. The craftsmanship displayed throughout the house is evident to all. Most people believe our home to be a renovated 1920's Florida cracker-style home as the attention to detail from that period is exact from the tin roof, to the wraparound porch, to the transom windows throughout the interior, to our 100-year-old heart pine floors.

A Craftsman Without Peer
"In 1996, after meeting Walter and Mimi Price at the Parade of Homes-Remodelers Showcase, we knew we had found a rare treasure -- a craftsman without peer. They insist upon precise workmanship.... Both of them possess the integrity seldom found in today's workplace.
